Geoffrey Clarke studied at the Royal College of Art and was one of the 'Geometry of Fear' sculptors who represented the UK at the Venice Biennale in 1952.
He was the featured artist at the Venice Biennale three times in the 1950s and 1960s.
His early work was mainly welded iron, but from 1959 onwards he starting casting very original sculptures in aluminium.
He produced large numbers of public sculptures.
The Tate Gallery collection includes his work and 3 books by Judith LeGrove, including catalogue raisonnes of his sculptures and prints, were published in 2017.
A remarkable artist who is still rather underrated.
