Reg Butler was a welder and modeller who was one of the 'Geometry of Fear' artists and became internationally famous after winning the 'Unknown Political Prisoner' sculpture competition in 1953.
He was one of Hanover Gallery's main artists and they sold his work very successfully internationally [particularly in the USA] in the 1950s and 1960s.
Many public collections include his sculpture including the Tate Gallery and Museum of Modern Art [New York].
