Gielgud was only 28 when this was modelled and just becoming famous.
I have all of the letters between Epstein and Govett. Epstein said Gielgud was very pleased with it in 1933, but after Epstein died Gielgud claimed Epstein had rushed it to concentrate on Einstein - untrue.
